Veneers are thin shells laid over the fronts of you teeth to
enhance their natural appearance. As a small amount of the
tooth enamel is removed to accommodate the veneers this is
usually a permanent procedure.
Veneers can cover stained teeth or teeth that are badly shaped.
They can also be used to fill small gaps or imperfections
between
the teeth.
In some cases whitening of the existing teeth is an option.
Professionally available whitening systems are available
from your dentist that may be an alternative to veneers.
However, veneers will cover imperfections in the teeth that
whitening can not improve and whitening may not work on
all stains.
Once applied veneers are cared for like your normal teeth, but
you may want to avoid red wine or similar staining foods.
Ask your dentist if veneers are best for you.
